After running 4840 I realised that an update on backdating it and its partner in crime 4812 had not been done so as this could be the last post for the year I had better correct the situation.
The fletner vent removal has been covered in a previous post. Straight top buffing plates had to be sourced and Joe at Casula Hobbies came to the rescue with a packet of brass ones so 2 packs were ordered which arrived very quickly.
Removal of the original ones is a bit tricky and care must be taken not to damage the front of the loco as the replacement shafts are a bit larger in diameter. Care was taken to drill out the housing by hand using a 3mm drill then paint and glue in place the new buffing plates.
I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas a Happy New Year, Happy Hogmanay and again Happy Modelling.
Peter, may your first visitor for the New Year bring a sizeable drink of whiskey!
Thanks for sharing your modelling throughout the year,
Geoff.
