After receiving an order from Eileens Emporium UK work started on the railings for the S M’s house. There are different types of railings used ranging from none at all to just enclosing with timber boards to the more elaborate, which I have chosen.
First a simple jig was made using a piece of scrap ply and some scale timber off cuts. The vertical posts were cut to length using .040″ x .040″ brass section. Next the horizontals were also cut and placed in the jig. Soldering the frame making sure all is straight and square was next. Using the .020″ x .040″ for the cross sections taking time to get them all equal within the frames, this takes a lot of time and patience and then solder in place. I have used Carrs 188 degree solder with green flux. There are photos of this type of railing at Crookwell. After inspecting the work a good clean up is needed before painting.
