Just prior to Christmas an Ezi Kits Baldwin tender kit arrived so rather than stick it in a drawer I thought I had better get on with building it. Construction was straight forward using low melt solder. The paint work is self etch black thinned 50/50 and carefully sprayed with a Paasche VL air brush which I have had for about 25 years and still works very well. Weathering completes the model and is done in the usual way – Floquil grime then mud and a bit of grimy black then pastel chalks and lastly Testors dullcote.
There is plenty of room inside the tender to accommodate a DCC speaker and chip etc. What did surprise me, the wheels are live on one side, so it’s easy to hook up to a brass or DJH loco kit such as a Z12, C30T and of course the Ezi Kits Z19.
I appreciate the large number of people following this blog from many countries as it encourages me to do more. Happy modelling in 2014.
